What is the deposit amount to reserve Catering by the Family services for my date?
All we ask for is a $250.00 deposit. We accept check, cash and/or credit cards.
When is my final payment/guest count due?
All final payments and final guest counts are due 10 days in advance of your scheduled event date.
Is there a fee for paying with a credit card?
Yes, if you are paying $500.00 or more for your event with a credit card, we will add a 3% credit card fee to the final balance (without the service charge).
Is gratuity/tip included in my proposal/invoice?
Yes, an 8% service charge is the minimum added to the final balance. You are allowed to add additional gratuity if you would like.
What does the service staff wear?
Traditionally, our staff members wear a white collared buttoned down shirt, black bow tie, black vest, black shoes, and black pants.
Currently: Black Bistro – black collared buttoned down shirt, black tie, black pants and black bistro apron. Polo shirts and black pants are available for informal events or upon request.
What type of eating ware do you include with your packages?
You are able to choose if you would like clear disposable eating ware or china eating ware with your package.
China includes various size dishes in Ivory with a gold rim or White with a silver rim. The utensils are stainless steel.
You can also upgrade your china with available designs. Please refer to your sales consultant for more information.
Can you provide a cash bar?
No, our liquor license only allows us to provide the bar that has been pre paid for and we cannot take cash for individual purchases at the event.
Can I hire your bartender and supply my own alcohol?
Yes, you can hire our bartender and supply your own alcohol. The liability is transferred to you, the client. There are some calendar dates that require a bar package purchase to hire bartender.
We also have available portable bars and bar setups – that includes mixers, sodas, beverage napkins, lemons/limes, bottled water, etc. Please refer to your sales consultant for more information.
Can I customize my menu?
Yes, we have a wide variety of menu options that we cannot fit on one page! You may always review and customize a menu with our sales consultants. Let us know what your taste buds desire!
What is your cancellation policy?
After receiving a deposit; if you must cancel your event with Catering by the Family for any reason your deposit is non-refundable. You may take your deposit and transfer it to another event or service that our company may provide you.
What other services do you provide outside of menu and food packages?
We are a full production caterer. We can supply and setup:

Wedding Cakes – Yes!! We have a Pastry Chef on site to create your special cake for your day or any special occasion!

How many staff members do I need for an event?
We pride ourselves on great and efficient service! We staff according to type of event, menu being served and eating ware choices. We have provided general standards and information for a wedding reception event.
Event Manager – required for all wedding events $135.00
Chef – chef attended stations/back of the house $100.00
Utility – required for china service and/or various setups $100.00
Servers – $100.00 per staff member
Buffet – 1 server/40 guests
Plated – 1 server/20 guests
What happens with the excess food from the event?
Any food that is left over from your event can be packed in disposable containers and given to you upon request.
Can your staff cut and serve the cake?
Absolutely! Our staff will cut and serve the cake. We also have an on site pastry chef that can make your cake! However, even if you do not order your cake through our services we will cut and serve it to your guests.
What service time is included with the staff pricing? How much time do you need to set up and breakdown an event?
Our staff pricing is based on a 4 hour minimum event time. That amount includes 2 hours of setup and 1 hour of breakdown following the event. For every hour of your actual event over 4 hours the charge is $25.00 per staff/per hour.
What are hall fees?
Various halls and venues require a hall fee for any outside catering service. This additional fee is based on a percentage of the food and/or beverages being served (ranging from 8% - 15% of the food cost) or could be a per person price.
Can you cater our event if our venue does not have a kitchen?
Of course! We are set up to cater and deliver menus ready to eat and do not require any kitchen facilities.
Do you have decorations I can use?
In our buffet packages we include scrunch and buffet decorations that compliment your colors and decorations. We can also assist in coordinating centerpieces for a business or wedding event. That is an additional charge and not regularly included with our pricing.
